Abstract
Ondansetron has been shown.. to be effective antiemetic agent in the control of chemotherapy induced emesis. The efficacy of twice - daily oral treatment, after a single IV done prechemotherapy; was compared with the established three times a day oral regimen for the prevention of Nausea and Vomiting induced by non - cisplatin based combination chemotherapy.
Additional treatment with ondansetron twice daily or three times daily was equally effective in controlling emesis and nausea. Both dose schedules were well tolerated. Ondansetron given IV before chemotherapy followed by twice daily oral regimen has good efficacy in the control of emesis in oncology outpatient.
